The Crimson Saga

Red Eyes

This is book one in a series of four. It's an epic adventure journeying across a world full of predators, carnivorous plants, and vicious monsters. An ancient civilization was poisoned by an unknown threat a millennium ago that brought the world to its knees.

A consequence of this poisoning was to mutate a portion of the populace into a rabid species that became known as nightstalkers. Despite the inevitable warring between the surviving people of this world, an empire was rebuilt. Though it was a mere shadow of what stood before.

The world has reached an equilibrium of sorts. That is until a nightstalker with intellect and ambition has decided to tip the scales.

Talea Arathune

She's never been one to fit in. Impulsive, stubborn, hostile, wild, words she's heard her entire life. Trouble sticks to her like a magnet no matter where she goes.

She lives on a treekie farm with her aunt and uncle, cousins, and twin sister Lesedi. One would think the enormous eight legged arachnids they tend to would be the problem. It isn't.

Lesedi is kind, graceful, and even tempered. She's the water to Talea's fire, and the only thing that pulls the girl back from the brink at every turn. With a thirst for knowledge that can only be described as all consuming, she's constantly warring with Talea's lack of attention or motivation to sit still and study.

They are more than simple farm girls. They are more than twins with wildly different personalities. Neither of them know it, but this world will burn without them.

Depictions of this world.

“We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.” - Jonathan Gottschall
